This note lists the bugs addressed in SAP BusinessObjects Data Services 4.0 Support Pack 2 Patch 2. Changes are listed in descending order via a tracking number used by SAP BusinessObjects internally for product issues.

Maintenance Installation

SAP BusinessObjects Data Services patches are cumulative; for example, patch 2 contains patch 2 fixes plus patch 1 fixes. 

Installation of Data Services 4.0 Support Pack 2 Patch 2 (DS 4.0 Patch 2.2) can be installed on top of any existing Data Services 4.0 versions (for example, SP1 and its patches, or SP2).  You will only need to fill in the "CMS" and "User Info" screens of the installer.

If there is no version of Data Services already installed on the system, it will go through the normal full installation. For full installation instructions, please refer to the SAP BusinessObjects Data Services Installation Guide. Supported installation scenarios

The following is a list of the typical supported installation scenarios for patching to the Data Services Support Pack 2 Patch 2 (DS 4.0 Patch 2.2):

• (Updating existing installation) BI platform 4.0 SP2 + BI platform 4.0 patch 2.5 + DS SP2 + (optional) DS 4.0 Patch 2.1 + DS 4.0 Patch 2.2

• (Updating existing installation) BI platform 4.0 SP2 + BI platform 4.0 patch 2.5 + DS SP1 + (optional) DS 4.0 Patch 2.1 + DS 4.0 Patch 2.2

• (New Installation) BI platform 4.0 SP2 + BI platform 4.0 patch 2.5 + DS 4.0 Patch 2.2

Note: Information platform services can be used in place of BI platform in the above scenarios.

Updating a distributed environment

For each computer, when patching both SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) platform or SAP BusinessObjects Information platform services (IPS) and Data Services, apply the required BI or IPS patch first and then the Data Services patch.

In a distributed environment each computer hosts one or more Data Services components, when applying a patch to more than one computer it is not necessary to apply the patch to the computers in a specific sequence.

It is recommended that you update each computer in your distributed deployment to the same patch level.

Known installation issues:

1. If Data Services 4.0 SP1 Patches (for example, DS 4.0Patch 0.4 or DS 4.0 Patch 1.3) were already installed on the system, the DS 4.0 Patch 2.2  installer can install on top of SP0/SP1, but it will not automatically remove the previous patches. You will still see and be able to remove these patches in the Add and Remove Programs utility before or after installing DS 4.0 Patch 2.2.
2. You can install DS 4.0 Patch 2.2 with BI platform 4.0 SP2 Patch 5 or higher only. The Data Services installer will detect and block the installation if the BI Platform version is not compatible.
