1674874 - Cube Designer not starting. Error 'GetServerInfoDetails exception'

Symptom

SAP BusinessObjects Financial Consolidation Cube Designer is not starting. It's not able to connect to the SAP BusinessObjects system and shows the following error:

GetServerInfoDetails exception (Error: WSE 99999)
at BusinessObjects.DSWS.Session.Session.GetServerInfoDetails
at Cartesis.InformationDelivery.BOEPlatform.BiPlatformProxy.AuthenticationDescriptions()

Accessing the Web-Service URL (http://myserver:wsport/dswsbobje/services/Session) manually from a supported Browser returns a HTTP 404 (not found) error.
