1678091 - Unable to start servers in BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1


  • After executing the startservers, stopservers, scripts; it hangs on the next line and does not proceed.
  • CCM logs do not show any errors and CMS, SIA logs don't get generated.
  • Running cmsdbsetup and serverconfig also hangs or might proceed after a very very long time.
  • The CMS process can be seen in the task list (prstat) however does'nt seem to listen on any port.
  • Running truss on the CMS PID gives the following output repeatedly:

open("<bo-home>/data/.bobj/registry/.BusinessObjectsRegistryLock", O_RDONLY|O_CREAT|O_EXCL, 0744) Err#17 EEXIST
stat64("<bo-home>/data/.bobj/registry/.BusinessObjectsRegistryLock", 0xFFBFD720) Err#79 EOVERFLOW
nanosleep(0xFFBFD610, 0xFFBFD608)

  • Running 'ls -a' in "<bo-home>/data/.bobj/registry/" gives the error "Value too large...".
