1678268 - ORA-03113 during the database shutdown [AIX + Oracle 11g]

While trying to shutdown the database, you receive the following error:

Database closed.
Database dismounted.
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Disconnected from Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release
11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production

Issue is also seeing while installing a new environment with SAPINST during Oracle post-load activites. The error message is the same.

The error may also be seen while trying to execute an offline backup of the Oracle database:

BR0307I Shutting down database instance <SID> ...
BR0278E Command output of '/oracle/<SID>/112_64/bin/sqlplus /nolog

 This issue may also show up with different situations involving a database shutdown. And it may also occurs for Oracle 11.2.0.3 as well.
