1678498 - Universe Tool Gives Side-by-Side configuration incorrect Error

Symptom

  • After installing BI4 specific server or client tools and launch client tools such as the Universe Design Tool, the application fails to start with a side-by-side configuration is incorrect error
  • The error may also occur when starting other client tools as well as impede certain server processes from starting like the connectionserver32 or connectionserver process
  • Typical Error: "The application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."
  • sxstrace.exe tool reports  ERROR: Cannot resolve reference Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.4053"
