1678707 - The Data Shown in Balance Sheet and Income Statement Report is Wrong

Symptom

You execute the statutory report Balance Sheet and Income Statement, you then preview the result, and find out that for the balance sheet, the Year Ended amount for the Comparison Year is not right.

This issue is specific to Chinese customers.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the General Ledger work center, and choose the Periodic Tasks view.
  2. Select the Statutory Reports subview.
  3. Open Balance Sheet and Inc. Statement - China.
  4. Choose Blank Report Run under New to create a blank report.
  5. Select Company, Set of Books, Balance Sheet Structure, and Income Statement Structure.
  6. In the Type Code field, choose 3 Cumulative balance sheet, changes for income statement.
  7. In the Year field, enter YYYY.
  8. In the Comparison Year field, enter YYYY -1.
  9. Set Period From/To as 012 and 012.
  10. Set Balance Sheet Structure as as CN - Balance Sheet.
  11. Set Income Statement Structure as CN - I/S by Function of Expense.
  12. Select Next and preview to open the PDF document.
  13. Then you can find for the Balance Sheet and Income Statement, the year-beginning balances are wrong.

 

Cause

Since Feature Pack 3.0, the Balance Sheet and the Income Statement are created together. For Type Code 3 -Cumulative balance sheet, changes for income statement, Balance Sheet is created for Period To and Year, and comparison amount for Comparison Period To and Comparison Year. Meanwhile, for Income Statement for the respective time spans, which means from Period From to Period To specified. This means, the respective texts on the form template are wrong, correct would be Comparison Period. Since Feature Pack 3.5, an additional Type Code 5 -Compare opening balance sheet, changes for income statement, with which, the Balance Sheet is created for the opening balance, and the Income Statement is created for respective Comparison Period.

 

Resolution

If you set the Type Code as 3 -Cumulative balance sheet, changes for income statement , you can execute the report twice to generate the required Balance Sheet and Income Statement report:

  1. First of all, execute the report for the Balance Sheet.
    1. Choose Blank Report Run under New to create a blank report.
    2. Select Company, Set of Books, Balance Sheet Structure, and Income Statement Structure.
    3. In the Type Code field, choose 3 Cumulative balance sheet, changes for income statement.
    4. In the Year field, enter YYYY.
    5. In the Comparison Year field, enter YYYY -1.
    6. Set Period From/To as 012 and 012.
    7. Set Balance Sheet Structure as as CN - Balance Sheet.
    8. Select Next and Finish.
  2. Second of all, execute the report for the Income Statement for the respective year.
    1. Choose Blank Report Run under New to create a blank report.
    2. Select Company, Set of Books, Balance Sheet Structure, and Income Statement Structure.
    3. In the Type Code field, choose 3 Cumulative balance sheet, changes for income statement.
    4. Specify the Year and Comparison Year.
    5. Specify the Period From/To and Comparison Period From/To.
    6. Set Balance Sheet Structure as as CN - Balance Sheet.
    7. Set Income Statement Structure as CN - I/S by Function of Expense.
    8. Select Next and Finish.

You should be able to get the required report data as expected.
