1682570 - When trying to use query builder and use a LIKE in the query against SI_USERFULLNAME nothing returns

I am trying to use query builder to return a user by their full name.

When I use a query such as "Select * from ci_systemobjects where si_userfullname like '%john q public%' and si_kind = 'user'" I get nothing returned.  If I use the same query, but dont use the like "Select * from ci_systemobjects where si_userfullname = 'john q public' and si_kind = 'user' it returns the desired user.

How can I get around this?
