1686169 - Database error: "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket..." when refreshing report query against MySQL database from BI Launch Pad in Linux

Symptom

  • Unable to refresh a report query based on MySQL ODBC DataSource.
  • Database error: [unixODBC][MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Can't connect to local MySQL server through  socket '/tmp/mysql.sock'(2).(IES 10901).
  • Running the command : "mysqladmin -u [user]  --protocol=SOCKET --socket=/tmp/mysql.sock version --password [password]" , shows the error :

"mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)'".
