Symptom

  • From Windows 2008's Event Viewer, the DataServices event log with ID 12288 shows “unhandled exception occurs and event viewer become unavailable”
  • Data Services software uses double quotes around some entries in the Windows 2008 registry: i.e. for the Event Viewer > Application key: "%LINK_DIR%\\bin\\svcmsg.dll"
