1712525 - How to Create an Extension Field in Material screen and Extend that to Another Screen?

This document describes about the Step by step procedure to create an Extension Field in a Material screen and extending it to other screens like Purchase Order, Accounts and so on.

1. Go to Product Data work center.

2. Select Materials view.

3. Highlight a Material and select Edit button.

4. Select View All button (if you want the field to appear in any specific tab).

5. Now, you can decide where you would like to have the required field.

Once you navigate to the destination screen, follow steps from 6 to 16.

6. Select Adapt option (Top right corner) and choose Enter adaptation Mode.

7. Select Yes in the confirmation pop-up.

8. Again Select Adapt option and choose Edit Screen.

9. Select Extension Fields in Adapt section.

10. Highlight the Title under Sections Enabled for Extension Fields.

11. Select Add button under section List of Fields.

12. In the new pop-up, select the Field Type, Field Label (field name which should be displayed in the screen), and if required, you can fill Tooltip.

13. Select Save button.

14. Check the Visible check box adjacent to newly created field. This will enable the field in the screen.

15. Select Save button and Publish button.

16. Select Yes in the confirmation pop-ups.

Now, you can able to find the field in the screen. This field will be visible in all the materials.

 

There different cases to extend or reuse the field.

Case 1: If the field needs to be used in another tab of the Material.

1. Navigate to the respective screen.

2. Select Adapt option (Top right corner) and choose Enter adaptation Mode.

3. Select Yes in the confirmation pop-up.

4. Again Select Adapt option and choose Edit Screen.

5. Select Extension Fields in Adapt section.

6. Highlight the Title under Sections Enabled for Extension Fields.

7. Highlight the Title of the field which you have created.

8. Check the Visible check box adjacent to newly created field. This will enable the field in the screen.

9. Select Save button and Publish button.

10. Select Yes in the confirmation pop-ups.

Case 2: If you want use this field in any other screens (Ex: Purchase Order).

1. Navigate to the respective screen.

2. Select Adapt option (Top right corner) and choose Enter adaptation Mode.

3. Select Yes in the confirmation pop-up.

4. Again Select Adapt option and choose Edit Screen.

5. Select Extension Fields in Adapt section.

6. Highlight the Title under Sections Enabled for Extension Fields.

7. Highlight the Title of the field which you have created.

8. Select Further Usage link under section Field properties.

9. Select Extension Scenarios tab.

10. Here, you can decide in which business context you would like to have this field.

11. Select the respective row and select Add Field button.

12. Select Close button.

13. Select Publish button.
