Symptom

Getting an error message "Error while installing crystalreports.msi ,any service pack or fixpack file", when installing service pack or fixpack of Crystal Reports .msi file

Environment

Crystal report 2008

Reproducing the Issue

Install service pack or fixpack directly without installing the main version of crystal report.

Cause

Service pack .msi file will check for the base version of Crystal Report .msi file

Resolution

Install the base version of the crysalreports.msi file first and then install service pack 2 .msi file.
