Symptom
In Crystal Reports for Enterprise, when returning large data such as a BLOB or CLOB field to a table column of a UNX universe, the query fails to execute and the application displays the following error message:
'Failed to execute query <com.businessobjects.dsl.commons.exception.NestedException: Error on Execute: bad allocation>'

Crystal Reports For Enterprise 4.0
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a .UNX universe which includes a table with a memo field (long text datatype field)
- From CR for Enterprise, create a new report off that .UNX
- In the query enter the 'memo' field
- Click OK to run the report
Cause
The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT01550707
Resolution
This issue has been addressed by Support Package 2
Limitation:
Column size in universe tables has been limited to 64 KB. Consequently, a data field larger than 64 KB is
truncated
