1713665 - Error: 'Failed to execute query <com.businessobjects.dsl.commons.exception.NestedException: Error on Execute: bad allocation>. Redesign your query or contact the data source maintainer to solve the problem'

Symptom

In Crystal Reports for Enterprise, when returning large data such as a BLOB or CLOB field to a table column of a UNX universe, the query fails to execute and the application displays the following error message:
'Failed to execute query <com.businessobjects.dsl.commons.exception.NestedException: Error on Execute: bad allocation>'

Environment

Crystal Reports For Enterprise 4.0

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a .UNX universe which includes a table with a memo field (long text datatype field)
  2. From CR for Enterprise, create a new report off that .UNX
  3. In the query enter the 'memo' field
  4. Click OK to run the report

Cause

The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT01550707

Resolution

This issue has been addressed by Support Package 2

Limitation:
Column size in universe tables has been limited to 64 KB. Consequently, a data field larger than 64 KB is
