1713669 - Export to PDF is not working while using Open JDK in Linux

Symptom

Export to PDF fails while using Open JDK in Linux environment with the following error message :

java.lang.NullPointerException

Environment

  • Crystal Reports for Eclispe 2.0
  • Open JDK 6
  • Tomcat 6
  • Linux Operating System

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a sample code to view a Crystal report using Crystal Report for Eclipse 2.0
  2. When the report opens in the Crystal Report Viewer, click on export button
  3. Select PDF
  4. The following error message is thrown : java.lang.NullPointerException

Cause

Open JDK is not supported/compatible with any BusinessObjects applications. This information is not mentioned in the supported platform guide for Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0, however the same will be updated in the next release.

Resolution

Use Oracle/Sun JDK
