Symptom

  • When trying to create a relational connection in BI4.0 got the error message as "com.sap.connectivity.cs.java.drivers.DBDError:[Data Federator Driver][Server][Connector'testSourceConnection1326830487555'] Could not find driver class'com.sas.net.sharenet.ShareNetDriver'using location" using JDBC drivers as middle ware
  • Using generic ODBC drivers got the error message as ""JavaClass not found in classpath"

Environment

  • Business Objects : BI4.0
  • Database: SAS 9.3
  • Operating System: Windows Server 2008 64 Bit

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Launch Information Design Tool
  2. Create a New Relational Connection (File|New)
  3. Enter the Resource Name
  4. Click Next
  5. Expand the SAS Database
  6. Select the JDBC Middleware Drivers
  7. Click Next
  8. Enter the User name, password, server and database
  9. Test Connection
  10. Got the error message as""com.sap.connectivity.cs.java.drivers.DBDError:[Data Federator Driver][Server][Connector'testSourceConnection1326830487555'] Could not find driver class'com.sas.net.sharenet.ShareNetDriver'using location"

Cause

SAS jar files not placed in the installation path of Data Federator

Resolution

  1. Place SAS.core.jar and SAS.intrnet.javatools.jar files in the following location : "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\pjs\services\DataFederatorService\resources\drivers\sas"
  2. Create a new connection to SAS in IDT  using the JDBC connection
