1713673 - Error: "Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters" or "Database Connector"

A publication that contains multiple reports, and is set to return the list of recipients as data, may fail with the following error messages:
"Database Connector" or "Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters"

• Crystal Reports 2011
• Business Intelligence 4.0

1. Create a Publication
2. Include multiple Crystal reports within it (more than 20)
3. Include a Crystal report which returns the recipients as data
4. Merge the PDF
5. Schedule the Publication
6. Intermittently it fails

The problem happens when a connection to the database used by the report fails for some recipients. The publication retry mechanism attempts to the database again but fails to pass logon credentials for those recipients.
The issue has been identified and logged under Problem Report ID ADAPT01474452
