1723357 - Error Message: Sales properties of () should be changed in future only.When the sales properties are changed in the past, reporting related to Sales may become inconsistent

When you try to activate a Organizational Structure, system throws below error message

Sales properties of () should be changed in future only. When the sales properties are changed in the past, reporting related to Sales may become inconsistent

1. Go to Organizational Management work center.
2. Select Edit Org Structures under Common Tasks.
3. Highlight the Org Structure.
4. Select Activate button and choose Activate All.

The cause for the error message is might be because below reasons,

1. You  try to delimit the sales Properties of any Sales Organization, Sales Unit, Marketing, Customer Invoicing or Service Organization to a Past date.
2. You  try to delimit the sales Properties of any Sales Organization, Sales Unit, Marketing, Customer Invoicing or Service Organization to a Present date itself.

The system works as designed.

Sales Properties of any Org Unit should be delimited only on a future date but not on past date/present date. The system doesn't allow because, that will end up in inconsistent Sales Document.

So, you can delimit the Sales Property of an Org Unit to a future date.

Using Effective From Date:

1. Go to Organizational Management work center.
2. Select Edit Org Structures under Common Tasks.
3. Set the Effective Date as on or after two days from current date (Ex: if the todays date is 13/7/2012, then the effective from date should be on or after 15/7/2012)
4. Highlight the Org Unit XYZ.
5. Go to Functions tab and uncheck the Sales Properties (Sales Organization or Sale Unit).
6. Now, the Org Unit's Sales Properties will end by Next day's date (Ex: 14/7/2012), which is a future date.

Now, you can able to activate the Org Unit.

Using Timelines Tab:

1. Go to Organizational Management work center.
2. Select Edit Org Structures under Common Tasks.
3. Highlight the Org Unit XYZ.
4. Go to Timelines tab.
5. Change the Valid To date of the Sales Properties to a future date (Ex: if the todays date is 13/7/2012, then the Valid To date should be on or after 14/7/2012)
6. Select Enter key in the keyboard.

Now, you can able to activate the Org Unit.
