1723435 - Information Steward 4.1 Upgrade Scenarios

When you install on top an existing Information Steward (IS) 4.0 installation, you must upgrade SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform (BI platform), Data Services and Information Steward in the sequence of the following recommended scenarios.

Notes:

• Information Steward works with both SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform (BI platform) and Information platform services (IPS). Therefore, you can replace BI platform with IPS anywhere in this document.
•  “+” means install
• “-“ means uninstall

Scenario 1: BI 4.0 SP2 + DS 4.0 SP2 + IS 4.0 SP2 - IS 4.0 SP2(*) - DS 4.0 SP2 + BI 4.0 FP3 + DS 4.1 + IS 4.1

Known issues:

• On Linux/Unix, if EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer failed to starts after installing DS 4.1, you can apply the following workaround.

The workaround: modify the command line in “CMC à Servers à EIMAdaptiveProcessingServer à Properties page”

From: -XX:+ExitVMOnOutOfMemoryError=%JVM_IGNORE_CONSOLE_EVENTS%

To:  -XX:+ExitVMOnOutOfMemoryError

• On Linux/Unix, if you are using bundled DB2 workgroup, prefer to Data Services installation guide (page 28) to configure the database with OS authentication before starting any installation of Data Services or Information Steward. However, It’s not recommended to use bundled DB2 for Information Steward repository for the large scale data profiling. The powerful enterprise database is recommended for high performance and scalability.
• (*) Please remove <InstallDir>/InformationSteward/integrators and <InstallDir>/InformationSteward/WEB-INF/lib(if exists) before installing IS 4.1.

Scenario 2: BI 4.0 SP2 + DS 4.0 SP2 + IS 4.0 SP2 + BI 4.0 FP3 + DS 4.1 + IS 4.1

Known issues:

• After installing BI FP3, Data Services 4.0 SP2 and Information Steward 4.0 SP2 will not automatically work, e.g. Data Services or Information Steward link from CMC is broken, you must continue to install DS 4.1 and Information Steward 4.1 to synchronize with BOE 4.0 FP3.

Scenario 3: BOE 4.0 FP3 + BOE patch 3.4  + DS 4.1 + IS 4.1

General Known issues: (apply to all IS upgrade scenarios)

• After installing IS 4.1 using DB2 repository upgrade, you may get the “Please perform DB2 reorganization on tables ….” message in the installer log. To fix the error, it is necessary to reorganize the following tables: MMT_Connection, MMT_Transformation_Package, MMT_Actor,  MMT_Software_Module,  MMT_Configuration,  MMT_Table, MMT_Parameter, and MMT_Utility. This can be done from the DB2 Control Center by right-clicking on each table and choosing “Reorganize…” from the menu.  Use the default reorganization options by clicking on the OK button.
• If user changes the IS repository password from IS application setting in CMC after upgrade, it throws error ‘Repository version mismatch: 14.0.2.370, expect 14.1.0.391. (COR-10655)’. This problem has been fixed in IS 4.1 Patch0.1.

The workaround is to run the following SQL in the IS repository:

update DB2BOB.MMT_PARAMETER set PARAMETER_VALUE = ’14.1.0.391’ where PARAMETER_ID = 1;

where DB2BOB can be substituted by your database repository name and use the update syntax accordingly with Database type.
