1725956 - Error Message: Cannot change cost center XYZ (); it is assigned to Fixed Asset

When you try to activate an Organizational Structure, system throws below error message for some Cost Center

Cannot change cost center XYZ (); it is assigned to Fixed Asset

1. Go to Organizational Management work center.
2. Select Edit Org Structures.
3. User created new Profit Centers in the Org Structure.
4. Highlight the Org Structure.
5. Select Activate All button.

Note: In the system many Fixed Assets were migrated with only Cost Center but without Profit Center.

The reason for having Fixed Assets which were created/migrated only with Cost Center and without Profit Center is,

Fixed assets have already been created in the system for the cost center. So it is not possible to change it. Further you have not activated profit center reporting.

If you have selected profit center accounting and segment reporting for a set of books, the system automatically enters the profit center and segment in the line items of journal entries created from source documents. Please refer to our help center for document Derivation of Profit Centers and Segments. It explains the prerequisites need to be fulfilled for the derivation of profit centers and segments:

To resolve the issue create a new Organizational Assignment Interval in the affected fixed assets. The start date of the interval should be after the last posting date on the cost Center and a date before the Profit Center assignment changes in Organizational Management was done.

This will resolve all issues. Use this method as standard for all future changes.
