How the Replace Product functionality works in the sales order.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
  2. Select a New Sales Order under Common Tasks.
  3. Select View All button and go to the Items tab.
  4. Add a material.
  5. The Replace Product is available on the screen.


This is a new functionality added in the SAP Business ByDesign to enable you to search and replace the added product with another alternative.


Here are some general description about the button Replace Product:

You can choose the action Replace Product to search for alternatives products, product specifications, or ship-from locations, in order to
replace the selected item based on projected product quantities. For the search you can maintain the Horizon, that represents the time frame for
which the projected product quantity is calculated. The Projected quantity is calculated by the available stock plus supply minus demand,
considering the horizon set (without considering the transport times and without considering the replenishment lead time).

The system defaults the product, the product specification (if available), the ship-from, and the horizon from the item to the
selection parameters of the popup. The button Replace product is not active in fast-entry mode, i. e. after you have pressed Fast Entry in the sales order screen.
