Symptom

The J2EE Engine fails to start and you observe the following error messages from the traces/logs:

  • In the /usr/sap/<sid>/<instance>/work/std_server.out file:

    Service [com.sap.aii.af.svc] start ================= ERROR
    =================
    com.sap.engine.frame.ServiceException: <  Localization failed:
    ResourceBundle='com.sap.engine.frame.ServiceResourceBundle',
    ID='Instantiating the Adapter Framework MS Connection Registration
    service (com.sap.aii.af.service.ms.ConnectionRegistration) failed.
    Reason: java.lang.Exception: The global connection definition is not
    available..', Arguments: []  > 
     
  • In the default trace:
