1743212 - SIA will not start after installing Service Pack 4 on a SAP BusinessObjects Business Business Intelligence 4.0 system

Symptom

After installing Support Pack 4 for SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4 (BI4 SP4), the SIA will not start and you see the following symptoms:

  • Even with logging enabled - nothing shows up in the logs.  The only log that contains anything is the JVM log - and it has no error messages in it
  • The Apache Log files in C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\Apache\ contain a ClassDefNotFound error referring to the class com/businessobjects/cad/CADmain class which is contained in SIA.jar
  • SIA.jar exists and is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\lib
