1754166 - BI 4.0: Poor performance / very long runtimes for Web Intelligence documents based on BICS

• Poor runtimes in Web Intelligence with BICS connectivity to BEx queries, especially if the OLAP cache is empty, i.e. after data has been updated into the cube overnight. We are talking about 8 times longer when the OLAP cache is empty.
• Different OLAP cache behaviours are observed when the same query is executed using BEx Analyzer: Web Intelligence retrieves a larger size data set.
• Populating the OLAP cache via Web Intelligence execution can be very slow.
• When the OLAP cache for both BEx Analyzer and Web Intelligence is populated and a document is executed repeatedly, the runtimes are predictable and there is some additional overhead for the Web Intelligence execution.
• Also observed in the Web Intelligence document, results returned contain a lot of blank irrelevant rows, even if zero suppression is used (there are some limitations with this feature).
