1757151 - Org Unit Manager of an Particular Org Unit is Disappeared Automatically

You have assigned a particular employee as a manager for an Org Unit but suddenly the assignment removed automatically or the validity is ended on a particular date.

1. Go to Organizational Management work center.
2. Select Org Structures view.
3. Highlight the Org Unit.
4. Go to General tab.
5. Where the Org Unit Manager is missing. when you check in the Timelines tab, the Valid To date for the Organizational Unit Manager is ended on a Particular date (past date).

The cause for the issue could be,

1. A User might have unassigned the Org Unit Manager from the Org Unit on that particular date. This can be verified in the Changes log of that particular Org Unit.

or

2. There might be a change in Position of the Employee. Position means any transfer performed for this employee with respective to Job or Reporting Line Unit or Org Unit. When any event which leads to change in position happens,the position gets delimited and a new position is created. So in this case the position of the manager was delimited hence the transfer of position happened which made the manager to disappear.

As a Transfer changes details of the work agreement there are two possibilities for employees:

a) Leave him/her as Manager
b) Remove him/her as Manager

To be on the safe side, it was decided to let the manager assignment follow the working agreement (case b). When a transfer or termination of a manager is done, a warning informing about the potential manager issue (he/she should continue to be manager).

To verify,

Where you can find the Valid To date of the Manager assignment in that Org Unit. So you can find the org Unit Manager only if the Effective From date is lesser than the Valid To date.

To verify whether there is a transfer,

1. Go to Personnel Administration work center.
2. Select employees view.
3. Edit the Employee.
4. Go to Employment tab and Organizational Assignment sub tab.
5. Here, you can transfer details of that employee.

The system works as designed.

To resolve the issue, You can re-assign that employee again as a Manager for that Org Unit and activate the changes to that particular Org Unit.
