Symptom
After restarting the Central Management Server (CMS) there is a login delay up to several minutes until the login finally proceeds. This is happening from an external web application server (WAS).
When analyzing the TCP/IP states, the following scenarios can be observed: Before shutting down: tcp 0 0 10.0.0.1:56542 10.0.0.2:50000 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 10.0.0.1:38812 10.0.0.2:50000 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 10.0.0.1:46089 10.0.0.2:50000 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 10.0.0.1:46097 10.0.0.2:50000 ESTABLISHED (10.0.0.1 being the WAS, 10.0.0.2 being the CMS host, 50000 being the CMS Request Port - dynamically assigned) After shutting down the CMS, all connections are releasd. When restarting the CMS, this scenario is revealed: tcp 0 1 10.0.0.1:52333 10.0.0.2:50000 SYN_SENT The SYN_SENT state of the connection means that the WAS attempts to connect to the CMS on the old request port. That is the normal behaviour. Normally the destination returns a TCP RESET in case the port is closed. This is not the case in this scenario. The connection stays in SYN_SENT until it times out. |
