Symptom
User cannot receive e-mail notification for feeds.
Environment
SAP Sales and Service Cloud
Resolution
To receive e-mail notification for feeds, maintaining the following settings is required:
Ensure the correct scoping is in place:
- Go to the work center Business Configuration, view Implementation Projects.
- Search for the current project and click Edit Project Scope.
- Go to Step 4 - Questions.
- Follow this path: Communication and Information Exchange > People Collaboration, Intranet and External Services > Communities, Document Management and External Services.
- Ensure that the question "Do you want to deactivate system feed generation for your cloud solution?" is not checked.
Setting up Feed e-mail digest:
- Go to the Feed work center.
- Select Actions and choose the option Feed Settings from the drop-down list.
- For the field E-mail Digest, select the check box for Send digests of all my feeds and Save.
Maintaining E-mail ID:
- Go to Administrator work center.
- Go to the General Settings view.
- Choose the Employees link.
- Select the employee XYZ and press the Edit button (XYZ represents the identification of a Employee).
- Enter the E-mail ID and Save.
Setting up Feed Sources:
- Go to the Feed work center.
- Select Actions and choose the option Feed Sources from the drop-down.
- Hover over the item for which you want to receive notifications for and press the Edit icon.
- In the Manage Source Events page, select the checkbox for Include in E-mail Digests for the desired event and Save.
Note that to receive immediate emails, you will need to perform this for every object that you follow and would like to receive notifications for. At the moment, there is no way to sign up for emails for multiple objects in one go.
Subscribe to E-mail:
- Choose the Notifications icon.
- Scroll to the desired feed.
- Choose the 'Subscribe to Email' icon.
This is mainly required for mentions by other users.
Use case: your company wants to ensure all users are receiving feed e-mail notifications right from start, without the need of each user subscribing to e-mail notifications from bell icon;
Please evaluate the business configuration question “Do you want to notify business users using e-mail without additional subcription about Business Task Management items?” (there is indeed a typo in the system) for your project scope (available in Step 4 questions -> Communication and Information Exchange -> Business Process Management -> Business Task Management). Its tooltip shows “The Task Notification Subscription Default Behavior business option allows the sending of E-Mail notifications without explicit subscription. The Business User have to unsubscribe in case E-Mail notification is not wanted.”
This turns the logic around, so users must unsubscribe of a kind of e-mail notification if they want.
