Symptom

  • Data Direct ODBC drivers, available freely for download for the Windows platform, include multiple tools to test the drivers and their ability to connect to a database.
  • Data Direct ODBC drivers, available to download for Unix or Linux, also come with an example script to test the connectivity to the database from the non-windows box where they are installed.
  • However the Data Direct drivers shipped with SAP Data Services 4.x do not include an example script for testing connectivity between a Unix or Linux machine and the database.
