Symptom

  • Error message:"Return Code 120 returned from the server" when overwriting a Crystal Reports in SAP BW system.
  • Saving the report with a new name works.

Environment

Crystal Reports 2011 SP4.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Start Crystal Reports 2011.
  2. Use Open from SAP Menu
  3. Choose existing Crystal Reports from Role Menu.
  4. Use Save on SAP Toolbar
  5. Error Message: Return Code 120 returned from the server

Cause

It is mandatory to use Transport Request prior overwriting reports on a SAP BW system. This was not needed in the previous Crystal Reports 2008 version.

Resolution

To avoid this error first collect the Crystal Reports 2011 report into SAP Transport Request prior to opening, changing and finally saving it in the SAP BW system.
