1790925 - BI 4.0 SP04+ silent install exits almost immediately

Symptom

  • After creating a response file for SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence Platform (BI) 4.0 SP04 and above, the install runs for approximately 2 minutes and exits without visible error. e.g.:

setupexe -r /home/bi4/silentSP05.ini
Finished, return code is 0
  • The log file stored in /tmp/YYYY.MM.DD.hh.mm.ss shows the following information (it is not moved to the InstallData folder when the install fails in its early stage):
12:50:53.451 [ValidateCheckInvalidSymbol]EscapeCharacterList: "&'<>@\|()[]{}^$*+?.
12:50:53.452 Error: Validator failed:
12:50:53.452 Error: Either the remote CMS cannot be reached, or the logon credentials are incorrect. INS00013
