1792613 - Cannot access External Data - Error# 2170 when accessing the Webi service residing on ECC system

Symptom

Cannot access External Data -  Error# 2170 while trying to preview the dashboard in Launchpad

Environment

SAP Business Intelligence 4.0 Service Pack 02 and higher

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a dashboard using Qaaws connection on top of Web Service hosted in the SAP ECC system
  2. Publish the dashboard to the repository
  3. Preview the dashboard from the Launchpad

Cause

The Crossdomain.xml is not present in the ECC system

Resolution

The crossdomain.xml needs to be present in the ECC system. Following are the steps:

1. Create a new empty BSP application

2. Import a new MIME object into the BSP application and select the crossdomain.xml that you have created

3. Launch SICF and modify the default_host and set the default service

4. Open your browser and test the settings
