1800261 - Setting password in AD Server "unable to find valid certification path to requested target" error

Symptom

  • You need to set a password within Active Directory
  • The Active Directory server resides in a different domain than the IDM system
  • In the logs you see the error    

      javax.naming.CommunicationException... [Root exception
     is javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException:
     sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed:
     sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to
     find valid certification path to requested target]"
