1813678 - Message E0051 "Field DOCREL in control record with value xxx is invalid" or EDI: Field MANDT in control record with value xxx is invalid

Symptom

  1. When changing the SAP release version in IDOC control record, following error occurs:

    EDI: Field DOCREL in control record with value xxx is invalid E0051

  2. When sending an IDoc from an external system to SAP, function module IDOC_INBOUND_SINGLE is called and returns the application exception IDOC_NOT_SAVED from ABAP side, error message is EDI: Field MANDT in control record with value xxx is invalid and e.g JCO traces reports sample error below:
