1820535 - Error in GET_RAT_VERSION(2) or SMSS_SYST_SETUP(2)

Symptom

You are using:

  • SAP Basis Release 700 on
  • SQL Server 2008 (R2) or higher

and see the following error messages in transaction ST04 → Configuration → SQL Script Execution:

Unspecified error occurred in GET_RAT_VERSION(2)
Unspecified error occurred in SMSS_SYST_SETUP(2)

Field DB-Release shows SQL Server Katmai and field Version(source) contains ??? instead of a proper version string.
