Symptom

When you try to perform a physical inventory count (PI Count) for required logistics area ID, you get the message:

Logistics area has stock that is being processed and cannot be counted. Complete the stock's processing before you conduct a count of the entire storage location's stock.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Physical Inventory work center.
  2. Select Common Tasks view
  3. Go to New Logistics Area Count
  4. Storage Location ID: ABC  ( Here ABC is a Storage Location)
  5. Select Split Tasks as No Split Task
  6. Enter required Logistics Area ID
  7. Error: Logistics area has stock that is being processed and cannot be counted. Complete the stock's processing before you conduct a count of the entire storage location's stock.

Cause

The message is giving the information that there is some stock which is in process.

While initiating the count, warehouse manager has to ensure that all open logistics tasks are finished in the logistics area/warehouse.

Resolution

  1. Kindly check for inbound and outbound warehouse orders in process and any related open tasks. Once you find any, complete the process and finish it.
  2. You need to finish these tasks before initiating the count. Always check Stock Overview with Stock Type and warehouse orders associated with it.

Note : Additionally, you can set the logistics area status to Block if you want to prevent an active logistics area from being used in logistics processes during PI counting.

Once you have blocked a logistics area, it is not available for any newly started logistics processes.
