1829538 - Long URL are truncated after exporting a report to PDF from Crystal Reports

• URL truncated.
• Hyperlink does not work in the PDF document.
• Incorrect URL after exporting a report to PDF format from Crystal Reports.

1. In Crystal Reports, create a report based on any data source.
2. Insert a string field.
3. Right click on the field >Format field > Hyperlink > under Hyperlink type, select ‘An email address’ > Add the URL
4. Refresh the report. Observe that correct URL is displayed
5. Export the report to PDF by clicking on File > Export > PDF
6. Observe the URL length in the resulting PDF document is truncated.

Additional notes:

• The hyperlink to email address is used in a formula and the url comes from SAP BW function module.
• Directly pasting the URL under email address doesn't make any difference
• Checked the option ‘Can Grow’ for the URL field has no impact
• Exported the report to Word and the issue doesn't happen.  The issue is specific to PDF.

• Limitation of URL length when viewed in the PDF Reader.
• While Crystal Reports exports the whole URL to PDF, when Adobe Reader is rendering the hyperlink, it gets truncated by Adobe Reader.

The only suggestion would be to reduce the length of the url whenever possible.
