1829538 - URL is truncated after exporting to PDF using Crystal Reports

• Crystal Reports 2011 Service Pack 5 Patch 3

1. Create a new Crystal Report with a text field
2. Right click on the field >Format field > Hyperlink > under Hyperlink type, select ‘An email address’ > Add the URL
3. Refresh the report. Observe that correct URL is displayed
4. Export the report to PDF by clicking on File > Export > PDF
5. Observe the URL length in the resulting PDF document

Additional notes:

• The hyperlink to email address is used in a formula and the url comes from SAP BW function module.
• Directly pasting the URL under email address doesn't make any difference
• Checked the option ‘Can Grow’ for the URL field has no impact
• Exported the report to Word and the issue doesn't happen.  The issue is specific to PDF.

This has been identified as a potential bug and escalated to Product Group under reference number ADAPT01684586

Upon investigation, Product Group found that this is a limitation of URL length when viewed in the PDF Reader.
While Crystal Reports exports the whole URL to PDF, when Adobe Reader is rendering the hyperlink, it gets truncated by the Reader.

Workaround:

Reduce the length of SAP BW query if feasible.
