1845698 - How do you resolve the error "Associated dimension is not a dimension." during a Change Source in a Web Intelligence document?

Symptom

  • SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.0 deployment of Web Intelligence.
  • A working Web Intelligence document reporting off of a UNV Universe connected to SAP BAPI (BW) connection.
  • The document has detail variables with associated dimensions defined.
  • Web Intelligence Rich Client or Web Intelligence Rich Internet Application used to Change Source to a SAP BEx query.
  • After objects have been mapped, the following error is observed"Associated dimension is not a dimension."
  • The stack trace indicates the exception is raised when Variables are being updated:

    java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Associated dimension is not a dimension.
     at com.sap.sl.sdk.dictionary.service.DictionaryServiceImpl.createVariable(DictionaryServiceImpl.java:96)
     at com.sap.sl.changesource.variables.VariablesHelper.createVariable(VariablesHelper.java:203)
