1852004 - Error: "Connection terminated abnormally" in database server console log or SQLCODE -308 "Connection was terminated" for a database client

Symptom

  • Occasionally, client disconnection notices may be reported in the SQL Anywhere database server console log, similar to one or more of the following messages:
    • Connection ID XX: connection "..." terminated abnormally; client socket shut down
    • Connection ID XX: connection "..." terminated abnormally; error code #####
    • Connection ID XX: connection "..." terminated abnormally
    • Connection ID XX: connection terminated abnormally; client socket shut down
    • Connection ID XX: connection terminated abnormally; error code #####
    • Connection ID XX: connection terminated abnormally
    • Connection terminated abnormally; client socket shut down
    • Connection terminated abnormally; server socket shut down
    • Connection terminated abnormally; error code #####
    • Connection terminated abnormally
  • On the database client, a SQLCODE -308 (SQLE_CONNECTION_TERMINATED) "Connection was terminated" error may also be reported.
