Symptom

  • Oracle database recently upgraded to 12c.
  • Job fails with Oracle error ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol.
  • Job fails connecting to Oracle 12c.
  • Error when adding repository to the Central Management Console (CMC) -> ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol
  • Recent parameter added to SQLNET.ORA on Oracle DB server which sets the minimum authentication protocol allowed when connecting to Oracle DB instances.  For example, SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION=10.
