1864335 - rs_init fails with connectivity errors: "attempt to connect ... failed" during upgrade - SRS

Symptom

  • Attempt to upgrade to SAP Replication Server (SRS) 15.7.1 from a previous version (ie - SRS 15.0.1 ESD #3) with embedded RSSD (ERSSD).
  • Execute the rs_init utility
  • Upgrade fails with the following errors during rs_init execution:

    CONNECTIVITY ERROR: CT-Library error: 'ct_connect(): protocol specific layer: external error: The attempt to connect to the server failed.'. 
    CONNECTIVITY ERROR: Login attempt failed: server = 'rsrepro_erssd'. 
    Unable to connect to the RSSD SQL Server 'rsrepro_erssd'.Make sure that the SQL Server is running, and the 'sa' password is correct. 
    Task failed: check the RSSD SQL Server. Terminating configuration. 
    Configuration failed.
