1864793 - You are not Able to Release Service Confirmation Due to Error "Release not possible; quantity exceeds inventory quantity at the area XYZ"

Symptom

 You are not able to release Service Confirmation due to error: Release not possible; quantity exceeds inventory quantity at the area XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the logistic area).

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Field Service and Repair work center.
  2. Go to the Service Confirmation view.
  3. Search for the service confirmation ABC (ABC represents the ID of the service confirmation).
  4. Select the service confirmation ABC and choose the Edit button
  5. Select the View All button and go to Services and Spare Parts tab.
  6. Select the Release button.

Error Occurs: Release not possible; quantity exceeds inventory quantity at the area XYZ.

Cause

In the Service confirmation you are trying to fulfill quantity more than available in the logistic area.

Follow the steps below to check the logistic area for the product maintained in the service confirmation: 

  1. Go to the Field Service and Repair work center.
  2. Go to the Service Confirmation view.
  3. Search for the service confirmation ABC (ABC represents the ID of the service confirmation).
  4. Select the service confirmation ABC and choose the Edit button
  5. Select the View All button and go to the Services and Spare Parts tab.
  6. Select the  Parts(s) Consumption subtab.
  7. Check for the field Logistics Area, you can see the logistic area maintained for the product is XYZ. 

Follow the steps below to check the stock in the logistic area:

  1. Go to the Outbound Logistics Control work center.
  2. Select Stock Overview under Common Tasks.
  3. In the Stock Overview screen, search for the product DEF (DEF represents the ID of the product maintained in the service order).
  4. In the result you can see stock available is for the product DEF in the logistic area XYZ.

Resolution

You need to increase the stock in the logistic area XYZ, before trying to release the service confirmation.
