1867764 - Could not reserve enough space for card marking array: SAP Startup issue

Symptom

The SAP Application Server JAVA startup fails due to instance bootstrap process aborting with virtual memory initialization failure and similar error as below is logged in the trace files (std_bootstrap<x>, dev_bootstrap and log_bootstrap<x>.log:

Error occurred during initialization of VM. Could not reserve enough space for card marking array. JLaunchIAbortJava: abort hook is called ERROR => The Java VM aborted unexpectedly. *** Please see SAP Note 943602 , section 'Java VM crashes for additional information and trouble shooting. SigISetIgnoreAction : SIG_IGN for signal JLaunchCloseProgram: good bye (exitcode = -2)
