1868317 - SPAM / SUM Error: 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process'

Symptom

  • Support package Manager (SPAM) import stopped during the phase IMPORT_PROPER, with below error:

    "ERROR: Cannot rename \sapmnt\trans\tmp\<FILENAME>
    ERROR: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"

                                                            OR

  • Software Update Manager (SUM) run hangs in the SAPupConsole.log with below error:

    "FATAL ERROR: Cannot remove 'E:\usr\sap\<SID>\SUM\abap\tmp\SAPHXXXXXX.<SID>': The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
