Symptom

In the CMC, when trying to configure the AD plugin, it produces the following error.

The Active Directory plugin failed to verify the provided SPN. Please ensure the SPN identifies a valid account.

Environment

  • SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In CMC->Authentication->Windows AD
  2. Enter the AD Admin Name and Default AD Domain
  3. Click Update button and error is displayed.

Cause

SPN provided in the Service Principle section is invalid or in incorrect format.

Resolution

  1. Please provide the Service Principal Name (SPN) in correct format and update AD plugin.

Eg. BICMS/service_account_name.domain.com
