Symptom
- Unable to connect to an SAP BW System from Crystal Reports.
- When attempting to connect to an SAP BW System from Crystal Reports, it fails with the error:
"Missing authorizations to create reports on basis of the SAP system.Contact you administrator."
Environment
- SAP Crystal Reports 2011
- SAP Crystal Reports 2013
- SAP Crystal Reports 2016
- SAP BW 7.4
- SAP BW 7.5
Reproducing the Issue
- In Crystal Reports, under the "SAP" menu, select "Create New Report from a Query..."
- Select the SAP BW system.
- Enter the SAP BW logon credentials, and click "OK"
It will then display the error: "Missing authorizations to create reports on basis of the SAP system.Contact you administrator."
Cause
- SAP Integration Kit Transports corresponsing to the version of Crystal Reports are not loaded on the SAP BW system, and the SAP User does not have enough Authorizations.
Resolution
- To successfully connect and report from an SAP data source from Crystal Reports:
- Load the SAP Integration Kit Transports to the SAP BW System.
- Set the required Authorizations on the SAP BW System for the SAP User that will connect to the SAP BW System from Crystal Reports.
- Load the SAP Integration Kit Transports to the SAP BW System corresponding to the vesion of Crystal Reports used:
It is very important to load the correct version of the SAP Integration Kit Transports because the transports load the functions Crystal Reports uses to connect to the SAP System, and if the version of the functions does not correspond to the version of Crystal Reports used, then issue will occur.
- The SAP Integration Kit Transports that are required to load on your SAP System are located in Crystal Reports production installation and product update, therefore unzip the product installation package or product update corresponding to the version of Crystal Reports you are currently using.
- Navigate to the following folder: \Collaterals\Add-Ons\SAP\Transports
- In the folder, the following file contains the versions of the SAP Integration Kit Transports to load on your SAP System: transports_EN.txt
Below is an example of an extract of the content of the file displaying the version of the SAP Integration Kit Transports to load:
* Open SQL Connectivity transport (K900754.R21 and R900754.R21)
* Info Set Connectivity transport (K900780.r21 and R900780.r21)

* Cluster Definition transport (K900690.r21 and R900690.r21)
* Authentication Helpers transport (K900691.r21 and R900691.r21)
... - The Transport files to load are located in the following folders:
\Collaterals\Add-Ons\SAP\Transports\unicode_compatible\cofiles
\Collaterals\Add-Ons\SAP\Transports\unicode_compatible\data
- Contact your SAP BASIS administrators to request them to load the SAP Integration Kit Transports on the SAP System.
Note:
You do not have to load all the SAP Integration Kit Transports, but only those required for the type of connectivity used.
