1878425 - kernel update: referenced symbol not found, runtime definition of the symbol was not found

Symptom

After kernel change or during system update or upgrade by SUM, you get error:

  • referenced symbol not found
  • runtime definition of the symbol was not found
  • Unsatisfied data symbol

error occurs, for example:

ld.so.1: disp+work: fatal: relocation error: file disp+work: symbol
ixml_iXMLOStream_PreserveSpecialChar: referenced symbol not found

rtld: 0712-001 Symbol
getNonBoundControls__15ItsParseManagerCFiRQ2_4_STL6vectorXTiTQ2_4_STL9al
locatorXTi__ was referenced
from module disp+work(), but a runtime definition
of the symbol was not found.

/usr/lib/hpux64/dld.so: Unsatisfied data symbol '_ZTIPKDs' in load module '/usr/sap/SUM/abap/exe/dw_gui.so'.

You want to check whether the kernel files are valid, or got corrupted.

You may also get error:

      ./disp+work: symbol lookup error: ./disp+work: undefined symbol: _ZN5rndrt6Parser11check_blockERKN4_STL12basic_stringIDsNS1_11char_traitsIDsEEN9sap_alloc17RND_STL_AllocatorIDsEEEE
