1880803 - Unable to Change the Product Category Assigned to a Material

It is not possible to change the Product Category assigned to a Material since the field is read-only.

 SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Product Data work center or any work center where you can access Materials view.
2. Select Material view.
3. Search and Edit a Material.

The Product Category is not changeable if the Material was set as a Material Template. This is expected system behavior.

Material Template view of Product Data work center. If you can find the Material in this view, then the Material is a Material Template. Therefore the Product Category field is not enabled.

You can set any other Material with the same category as Template. Then you can able to change the category of former Material, but for the other material the category can not be changed
