1883149 - Error: You must already have Visual Studio 2010 installed to proceed with this installation

Symptom

  • Installing SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio
  • During install the following error is displayed:

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Express Edition

Cause

  • The runtime MSI file was being used instead of the install executable
  • SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio does not integrate into Express Editions of Visula Studio

Resolution

  • Use Microsoft Visual Studio Professional or higher (Professional, Premium, Ultimate)
  • Use the install executable for SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio
