1886681 - BI 4.0 LDAP users are getting duplicate aliases created when using the siteminder plugin

Symptom

  • Duplicate alias created for some LDAP users (intermittently)
  • it appears that duplicates are created when user logs in for 1st time and wasn't previously mapped into BI (but they were actually aliased to a different account)
  • If user logs in with the duplicate ID they may not work properly, or have proper group memberships
  • It was observed when viewing the user properties in query builder that the DN for the users varied in the amount of spaces
  • Duplicate ID's were only created when an alias mapped to another account logged in with siteminder
  • Currently the siteminder plugin is deprecated in XI 3.1 and Bi 4. It is not feasible to re-write the plugin to fix this issue so using trusted authentication is recommended to avoid this behavior KBA 1892828
