For the users that can just create an expense report over the Work Center Home, the field Posting Date is not appearing for the expense reports type: Business Trip or Out of Pocket Expenses, for example.
For the users that also have access to the Travel and Expense Work Center the field Posting Date is present.
Reproducing the Issue
1. Go to Home work center
2. Go to Self-Services view
3. Go to Self-Services Overview subview
4. In session Expenses
5. Click on New Expense Report
6. Include a Type of Expense Report
7. Screen will load details, but in the top of the right side of the screen the session Posting Information, the field Posting Date is not appearing
The system is designed in this way that only the auditor is able to see and edit the Posting date.
By definition the person assigned to the Travel and Expense Work Center is considered an Auditor.
By default the posting date is calculated as the creation date of the Expense Report irrespective of the type of Expense Report.
The auditor has the rights to change the posting dates according to the needs.
If the expense report data are in the past, the expense report end date is used as the default posting date (in case of an out-of-pocket expense report it is the last expense date out of the entered receipts). This is correct because the posting dates describes the date when the costs occurred!
If the expense report dates are in the future the expense report end date cannot be used, because posting dates in the future are not allowed in the Financial Accounting. So the creation date is used.
In both cases the auditor is able to adapt the posting date according to his need.
System is working as desired.
