1889382 - Error 103, maximum length fordump path and file name - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When using a long path / file name for a dump device ASE returns error 103:

Msg 103, Level 15, State 9:
Server 'ASE1570', Line 1:
The device that starts with '/tmp/a123..()...123' is too long. Maximum length is 127.

  • Older versions of ASE return error 3250 for the same situation

Msg 3250, Level 16, State 1:
Server 'ASE1570', Line 1:
The device '/tmp/a123..()...123' specified in the command should be different.
