1892958 - Automatic Determination of Sales Unit is not as Expected in the Sales Order Even After Maintaing the Work Distribution Rule

Symptom

You have created a Work Distribution Rule for Sales Unit for Sales to enable the automatic determination of the sales unit in the sales order, however, a new sales order is still not determining the sales unit automaticallyor determines a different Sales Unit than expected.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

Follow the steps below to reproduce the issue:

  1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
  2. Create a New Sales Order from Common Tasks.
  3. Add the Account in the sales order.
  4. You find that the Sales Unit is not picked automatically in the sales order or a different Slaes Unit than expected is determined.

Follow the steps below to check if the Work Distribution Rule (Sales Unit for Sales) is maintained:

  1. Go to the Organizational Management work center.
  2. Go to the Work Distribution view.
  3. Go to the Organizational Work Distribution subview.
  4. Select Sales Unit for Sales.
  5. Select the Edit button.
  6. You find that the required rule is already maintained.

Cause

In the Work Distribution rule (i. e. Sales Unit for Sales) created, you have added the condition of company,
according to rule if the seller company in the sales order is XYZ then pick the sales unit ABC (XYZ represents the ID of seller company and ABC represents the ID of the sales unit).

If you try to create the sales order and add the Seller company manually in the Involved Party tab then the sales unit ABC will be picked automatically (as the rule suggest if company = XYZ, then pick sales unit = ABC).

Now you may have a question that why Seller company is not getting picked in the sales order first, follow the below steps to understand this point:

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to the Overview view.
  3. Search for the Involved Parties for Sales Orders activity.
  4. Open the activity and select Seller -> Select Maintain Determination button.
  5. You can see the determination selected is based on Company of Sales Unit.

Due to the above configuration whenever you try to create the sales order, system will only pick the Seller if the Sales Unit is added.
But due to the rule maintained in the Work Distribution (Sales Unit for Sales), the Sales Unit will only be picked in the order if Company (Seller) is available in the sales order.

Resolution

To clear this deadlock situation, you can remove the condition for Company from the Work Distribution rule (Sales Unit for Sales) and maintain a different condition that applies for your scenario:

  1. Go to the Organizational Management work center.
  2. Go to the Work Distribution view.
  3. Go to the Organizational Work Distribution subview.
  4. Select the Sales Unit for Sales.
  5. Select the Edit button.
  6. Remove the company condition from Company subtab.
  7. Save your changes.

Or alternatively ensure that the company is determined first and not based on the Sales Unit in the Involved Parties for Sales Orders activity by activating step Step 5 -> Company of Logged on User for the Seller Party.

With the above changes, now if you create a sales order, the sales unit will be determined as expected.
